ABOUT

WHY DESIGN:

Why design? Why make the effort to create a space that defines your taste and fits your lifestyle? Furthermore, why hire someone to do that for you? Shouldn’t it just come naturally?

Beauty is a myriad of elements assembled in just the right proportion and aesthetic balance.  Tastes vary, though beauty has consistent basic principles of design. Some people desire beauty, others desire comfort. If planned appropriately, the two can live harmoniously.

HOW DO I LIKE TO WORK WITH CLIENTS:

Design is best achieved by collaborating with my clients. By understanding their tastes and lifestyle goals, I can create a space ideally suited to their needs.

HOW DID I GET HERE:

My path to Interior Design was an evolution. By junior high I was making nearly all my clothes, my favorite thing being mixing patterns and fabrics to create my own hybrid design. Though one might think it a natural transition into Interior Design, it took several twists and turns for me to arrive there.

Exploring first business, I knew quickly I needed something more creative. Stumbling upon an interior design class, I was charmed by every aspect of the field. To me, it was a synthesis of all fields of study. I continued by studying design part time and working my way into the field. Along the way I focused on Art History, European History, and Psychology.

PSYCHOLOGY OF DESIGN:

Studies show the built environment affects us in all areas. The right space can inspire creativity, productivity, and enhance social interaction.

My undergraduate degree is in Psychology with a focus on the Psychology of Design. With experiments exploring effects of clutter and color on memory, I developed a desire to do further research into the range of ways our aesthetic environment contributes to our lives.

It brings me immense pleasure to create spaces that reflect my clients’ needs and enhance their well being.

WHERE DO I FIND INSPIRATION:

Travel… Literature… Nature… Music… If one’s mind is open, inspiration can come from any source.

“A good designer studies other designers. A great designer studies everything."
